internship at iisc.

Amrit Vatsa has posted a proposal for internship on his website, Vatsap. The idea is to create a research portal for India. It seems to be a joint venture of National Knowledge Commission (NKC) and IISc, Bangalore (IISc Director, Prof Balaram is a member of NKC).

Two of their research associates Vikas (who had started a rural BPO company) and Megha (specialist in Econometrics) are in IISc and having discussions with IISc students and faculty.

Next week, another research associate named Namita (IITB alumnus and Reliance Dhirubhai Fellow at the Stanford Graduate School of Business) is going to fly down to IISc and kickstart the project along with the IISc students and interns who wish to participate in the implementation. There is a high probability that the portal would be developed using Drupal, an open source content management platform (Voices, IISc newsletter, hosts its website based on Drupal).

If you have any experience with PHP or Drupal, it is time to compose an email.

    puneetha, there is no institute which allows first year student to do internship or project. you may get after second year even in IISC but for that you should talk to profs or either you should have some contacts in IISC. IISC allows 3rd year students for summer fellowship for that CGPA matters so study well.

    Am Darshan.R,doing my BE in Biotechnolgy (2nd year) in Bangalore.

    Studying about ‘ Cancer ’ genetically and understand it’s actual root cause is which am keenly interested in . Actually i learnt that there are different types of cancers in my PU. But today am aware that one of the cause of cancer is through translocation between chromosome 22 and 9 ,after which its called Philadelphia chromosome .But my question is to know why such a tanslocation should take place ? And am very keen in finding the answer for it .Stem cells always fascinates me. Finding cancer stem cell is a very difficult task . And am aware that many research is going on stem cells .I want to understand , analyse and work to know in deep about cancer and to come up with promising ideas to cure the disease .

    So do i have any opportunity to join ,IISC

    Even though being in 2nd year am still learning things ,but still i want be associated in this area ,so i can be much exposed to this field .
